Particularly on this historically bad Buffalo team.

Hopefully they've learned from their mistakes and send Reinhart back to juniors soon and do the same with who ever they draft with next years #1 or #2 pick.

Too bad the Sabres only have a 20% chance at best to get McWonderful. I fully expect a team like the Leafs, Jets, Sens or Flyers to win the lottery.

My thoughts were that those count, since he's on the active roster, but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong (another reason this Zadorov mess has me "worried")

It repeatedly uses the word "plays", so it looks like I was wrong. It's just in "layman's" terms and not from the CBA or anything, but I'll take it.

I'm pretty sure you are correct. It is played games that count. I'm fairly certain that's why Zadorov hasn't gotten into a game. They want to give him his 9 games, but they aren't going to put him in a game until the Sabres are 100% certain what they can do with him should they decide not to keep him on the roster.

*EDIT: I see Zadorov is playing in LA. So there goes my theory.

I'm pretty sure you are correct. It is played games that count. I'm fairly certain that's why Zadorov hasn't gotten into a game. They want to give him his 9 games, but they aren't going to put him in a game until the Sabres are 100% certain what they can do with him should they decide not to keep him on the roster.
